“WAGING WAR ON DEPRESSION”, a timely theme for this year’s campaign, becomes more real to us each day.  In a world that struggles with cancer, depression, divorce, abuse, hunger and more, we are reminded about just how tough we must be to pull our community forward through these reconstructive years.  There are signs of improvements on the way for us here in Santa Rosa County.  Our economic development team is repositioning for growth.  Our community is advocating for the expansion of the military mission in our area at Eglin Air Force base.  Our tourism business is growing and our future land use planners have developed policy to better locate industry within our County.  Additionally, our County’s development services have been consolidated to improve service to all investors in our area.  Many of the folks coming in to our office are very employable; all they need is a job.  Others who come in are dealing with the impacts of depression, mostly situational.  Our local United Way funded agencies have resolved not to cave in, to be stronger than ever and unyielding in the extension of compassionate targeted services to our neighbors in need.  We appreciate that you understand the empathy we have for our community and the investment into the hope United Way of Santa Rosa puts into community.  Thank you for joining our war on depression.
